Holidays to Kenya usually fall into three categories: Safari holidays, beach holidays; or a mixture of both. this blog will focus on beach holidays and below are some facts about Kenya as a holiday destination.

Holidays to Kenya: Resorts

There are four main resorts in Kenya:-

Mombasa is the main coastal city in Kenya and is surrounded by three resorts:-

  1. Nyali Beach
  2. Diani Beach
  3. Bamburi Beach

The three resorts above are where most of the hotels are located. From these resorts you can take excursions for a short Safari in the nearby National Parks, take dhow trips along the coast, and explore Mombasa.

Galu Beach: situated to the South of Mombasa, Galu beach is the quieter neighbour of Diani beach. Head here if you want a superb beach that is near deserted and a quiet relaxing holiday whilst still having the option of being only 15 minutes away from the shops and hustle and bustle of Mombasa.

Kikambala: this is the place to go to relax with a laid-back pace of life and perfect beaches. Head here if you want complete relaxation.

Watamu: Kenya’s the second coastal city the perfect place to go if you’re into wildlife, snorkelling and diving. Bordering a Marine National Park,Watamu is world-renowned for its spectacular sea life.

Holidays to Kenya:  Holiday Facts.

Climate: the climate along the coast of Kenya is hot all year round with temperatures ranging from 27 to 31°C

Rainy season: the main rainy season is between April and June with a smaller one from November to mid-December. It is worth noting that that any rains during the rainy season are normally short lived and will not normally interrupt your holiday.

Best time to visit: the main tourist seasons are July to October and mid-December to the end of March. The hottest time is between December to April.

Children: Kenyan’s love  children and are very welcoming, however, bear in mind anti malaria medication and precautions will need to be taken. For this reason Kenya may not be a suitable destination for children under two. Many hotels have the facilities to cater for children including clubs, children’s pools and special children’s activities.

Flights: charter flights are available from Gatwick and Manchester to Mombasa. Flight times are around 8 1/2 hours. Scheduled flights are also available from London Heathrow to Mombasa via Nairobi.

Hotels: Many holidays to Kenya are available on an all-inclusive basis however, there are a few hotels that are available on half board.

Excursions: there are plenty of excursions available from many hotels including many safaris, dhow trips, visits to Mombasa’s old town, and trips to ancient ruins and forests.
